Betfred Championship Round Up | Round 19

London Broncos maintained their 100% winning record in the Betfred Championship, beating Doncaster convincingly in the capital, in Round 19.

The league leaders scored twelve tries on Saturday; further strengthening their already hefty points difference.

Meanwhile, Newcastle Thunder defeated Barrow Raiders on the road to move up to second in the table.

A try a piece in a closely fought first half saw the scores locked in at 6-6. But a superb second half performance from Thunder, with four unanswered tries, including two from Will Roberts, saw the visitors claim a win.

On Sunday, Oldham extended their unbeaten run to 14 consecutive league matches with an impressive victory over Halifax Panthers at Boundary Park.

Back on home soil for the first time in seven weeks, Alan Kilshaw's side produced another dominant display which takes them up to third spot.

A thriller unfolded at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium, where Midlands Hurricanes eventually took the spoils.

It was a to and fro encounter as Midlands initially led, before Batley overtook them, and this would continue until the closing stages of the match.

Despite scoring five tries each, Sully Medforth’s boot proved to be the difference as the Hurricanes solidified their place in the Play-Offs.

Widnes Vikings secured a club-record victory on Sunday afternoon, running out comprehensive 116-6 winners against North Wales Crusaders.

The Vikings ran in 20 tries at Colwyn Bay, with four players scoring three tries or more.

Mike Butt bagged four tries, whilst Danny Richardson, Matty Fozard, Frank Sergent and Nathan Connell also crossed for hat-tricks.

It was also a record-breaking afternoon for half-back Richardson, who amassed the most individual goals in a game for Widnes (18), and the most individual points in a game (48).

Sheffield Eagles made it three consecutive Championship victories with a comeback win over Salford at the CorpAcq Stadium.

Kai Morgan’s try on the 72nd minute gave the Eagles the lead for the first time in the match, as they picked up a vital two points.

Finally, Whitehaven returned to winning ways at home to Swinton, as they sit just outside of the Play-Off positions with five regular rounds remaining...
